Application Process Continues For New Christchurch Green Cafe Kiosk

The delayed application process for a new cafe kiosk on Christchurch Green has resumed. The original application for an alcohol licence was opposed by many residents, that application failed as there was no approved planning application!  It is important moving forward that updates are clearly communicated and residents are regularly consulted. We will be monitoring any developments in the coming weeks.

Redbridge Lane West Allotment Under Threat

The future of the allotments by Redbridge Lane West are under threat following intentions by gas company Cadent to temporarily take over the site for maintenance purposes. Following a meeting between the Council and Cadent it has been instructed that Cadent present a clear plan of their plan/schedule of work. A second meeting is due in the near future where it is hoped detailed plans will be presented. We hope to see clear communication and a consultation between allotment plot holders, the Council, and Cadent. The allotments are a key part of the local environment as well as being a valuable asset of the local community. A petition to the Council has been set up to voice opposition - for more information see here

New Mobility Hub To Be Installed On Wanstead High Street This Summer

Plans for a new mobility hub, aimed to encourage sustainable travel, will be installed on Wanstead High Street this summer following a successful local consultation earlier this year. The hub is designed as a small-scale transport interconnection which will include an electric car club and charging bays, cycle parking, and plants.

Lib Dem Mayoral GLA Election Success

The London Mayoral and GLA elections were held on 6th May, with the Lib Dems successfully increasing our vote share in Redbridge and Havering by 15%. This was our best result for a constituency candidate and represents the continued increasing support we have seen in Wanstead.

In London we doubled our GLA members and we are the first party in London to have a female Muslim GLA member in Hina Bokhari. The main priorities for our party in London are to secure a green and fair recovery for London, better housing and cleaner air. In the first weeks since the election we sought to work with other parties on the London Assembly to secure a progressive alliance to achieve our aims and hold the Mayor accountable.

Stay well and we look forward to hearing from you soon,

Crispin, Scott and the Wanstead Lib Dem team.
