Back in October 2017 the Labour Council promised a new swimming pool at Wanstead High School with ‘the first spade in the ground in the next 12 months’. That was over three years ago.
At a recent resident’s forum, the Council said that there has been “slippage” in the finances. It seems work has yet to start. Wanstead Lib Dems are calling for more transparency from the Council. We are also concerned this shows the Council’s neglect of the west of the Borough. Lib Dem campaigner Scott Wilding says: “I understand these things are not always straightforward and we are in a pandemic. But this still looks like a serious case of over-promising and under- delivering.” Wanstead resident, Janet Cornish says: “We want to ensure our children can learn to swim and that the community in the west side of Redbridge have the opportunity to enjoy swimming. I have also been assured there will also be disabled access.
